(Most of last year's scholarships will be available again during the spring semester with new deadlines for their 2019-2020 applications. The specific criteria, application requirements, and deadlines vary by scholarship. Please review the guidelines for each scholarship to determine your eligibility before applying. We encourage you to use last year's application to start preparing the required documents and essay responses for the next academic year scholarship 2019-2020 (Fall 2019 & Spring 2020 Academic Year).

Soroptimist Live Your Dream Award - No more scholarships available at the local chapter level.  After many years of serving the community and supporting women and their families in the community with scholarships, the Soroptimist, the local chapter has been dissolved in 2019. 

For women who provide the primary financial support for their families.

Red Boucher Scholarship- Due January 11, 2019

It supports outstanding Alaskans pursuing careers in technology education and/or training. 

 

BP Process Technology Scholarship Program - Due January 18, 2019

The program appeals to people who enjoy the challenges of using advanced computer technology and instrumentation to operate a variety of equipment systems and industrial processes. 

 

Alaska Travel Industry Association Foundation Scholarship - Due January 31, 2019

For Alaska Students interested in pursuing the education necessary to succeed in the travel & tourism industry within the state.

 

Health Careers Scholarship Due February 1, 2019 

For undergraduate students beginning their 3rd or 4th-year health-related career program in Fall 2018.

 

Academic Works* formally known as UAOnline Scholarship - Due February 15, 2019 (Requires FAFSA on file)

College

The same Academic Works application will consider you for many scholarship opportunities in the University of Anchorage system and the scholarship foundations at Kodiak College. Kodiak College students need to fill out a supplemental application to be considered. *Students new to UAA (graduating high school seniors) do not need to fill out the scholarship application to be considered for an award.

High School & College

For individuals who have been formally admitted into an undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and/or vocational degree-seeking program at the Kodiak College Campus or the UAA Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the UAA BA in Elementary Education or the UAA BA in Early Childhood Education.

 

Kodiak Electric Association Scholarships (multiple) - Due February 15, 2019 

High School, College & Graduate

​KEA offers multiple scholarships for graduating seniors or continuing education students. Official transcripts required for this scholarship.

IMPORTANT: Students with the University of Alaska system credits (UAA, UAF, UAS, and extended campuses) can request a transcript FREE of charge at Kodiak College. Call at 486-4161 to place a request. Follow the KEA website for directions to the scholarship page.

 

Teach For Alaska Scholarship - Due February 15, 2019

High School & College

For incoming undergraduate students who plan to attend a University of Alaska

campus and study to become a teacher.

Nick Begich Scholarship  (Application)- Due February 20, 2019

High School & College

For Alaskans pursuing degrees and/or careers in education, government, and public service.

 

Kodiak Hospital Auxiliary and AMEA Scholarship - Due March 1, 2019 

High School & College

For Kodiak residents who are pursuing studies in a health field at an accredited college or university. Open to all graduating high school seniors, college, or university students, as well as those seeking continuing education are all welcome to apply.

 

Kodiak Noon Rotary KYPS Scholarship - Due March 4, 2019 

High School

For KIBSD High School Students attending a trade or vocational school or program.

 

Kodiak Noon Rotary Ole Johnson & J.D. Fulp Scholarship - Due March 4, 2019 

High School

For graduating seniors who have demonstrated a significant commitment to community service during high school.

 

Kodiak Noon Rotary Greg Furin Scholarship - Due March 4, 2019 

College 

For students who have completed one year of college or are currently enrolled or planning to return as a full-time student (part-time students are encourage to apply). 

 

USCG Foundation - Due March 15, 2019

High School & College

The scholarship season is now open for children of officers, enlisted, active duty reserve, or retired U.S. Coast Guard men and women. Applications can be submitted through March 15 with awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

 

Filipino American Association of Kodiak Scholarship (Fil-Am) - Due March 22 before 5 pm 

High School & College

For Alaskans of Filipino descent pursuing a 4-year higher education degree.

 

ALMA Scholarship  - Due March 29 before 5 pm 

High School & College

For individuals of Hispanic or Latino descent interested in furthering their education.

 

​American Association of University Women Scholarship - Due March 29, 2019 

College

For Kodiak female students who are pursuing college-level studies at an accredited college, university, or vocational school. Preference is given to non-traditional age students (age 25 or older).​

 

Credit Union 1 Scholarship  - Due April 1, 2019

High School & College

For individuals or students continuing/beginning their education at an accredited college or vocational school. 

 

James Carter Memorial Scholarship for Environmental Sciences - Due March 26, 2019 

High School & College

For graduating seniors and recent graduates who are planning to attend a college or university to pursue an undergraduate degree in environmental science- and who reside in the vicinity of Cook Inlet, Alaska.

 

Captain Barry Eldridge Memorial Scholarship for Maritime Studies - Due March 26, 2019 

High School & College

For graduating seniors and recent graduates who are planning to attend maritime vocational schools or academics for certifications or undergraduate degrees- and who reside in the vicinity of Cook Inlet, Alaska.

 

Indian Health Service Scholarships - Due March 28, 2019 for members of the Federally recognized tribes and native students in the Kodiak region or member of the Tribes of Akhiok, Port Lions, or Kaguyak. Associated General Contractors of Alaska, Inc. (AGC) Scholarship - Due March 31, 2019 

High School & College

Students pursuing a career in the construction industry or a related field such as accounting, insurance & bonding, and human resources. Scholarship awards will be limited to individuals who plan to live and work in Alaska.

 

Cobell Scholarship - Due March 31, 2019 Opportunities for undergraduate and graduate American and Alaska Native students. 

 

The Chef Cotter Scholarship - Due March 28, 2019

High School & College

Enroll at a post-secondary institution and pursuing a career in culinary arts or the hospitality and tourism industry.

 

David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship - Due March 28, 2019 

College

Candidates in the pursuit of registered nursing degrees and services to small Alaskan communities.

Coast Guard Spouses' Association of Kodiak for High School & Spouse Education - Due April 15, 2019

High School & College

The recipient of this scholarship may use the funds for any educational purpose (tuition, books, etc.).

Alaska Telecom Association Scholarship - Due April 15, 2019

College

The ATA scholarships are currently available to students who are enrolled in college and are continuing to pursue their degrees. The applicant has to be sponsored by an Active or Associate Member of Alaska Telephone Association.

For high school students committed to pursuing post-secondary education at a college or trade school.

Kodiak Pioneer Scholarship  Due April 26, 2019

High School & College

Applicants graduating from the KIBSD or already enrolled in a post-secondary education program in the state of ALASKA are eligible to apply. Additional awards are available for vocational tech programs.

 

KMXT Scholarships Due May (To Be Announced) 

High School & College

Student review last year's application to start working on the application. Most requirements could be the same and the application would give an overall idea of what to expect. Make sure to come back to review the latest application when available to be announced soon. For KHS graduate or KoC student interested in pursuing a career or training in media studies, communications, journalism, radio/tv/film/web production or broadcasting, or engineering.

Benzinga Scholarship for Future  Due November 30, 2019 

High School & College

The scholarship is offered to rising college students who plan to or are currently pursuing undergraduate majors in finance, business, or similar fields.

Shelly Szepanski Memorial Flight Scholarship - Due April 11, 2019

High School & College

An award of up to $5,000 to help qualified applicants earn their private pilot's or commercial/instrument ratings, including a float rating license.

 

The GCI Scholarship - Due April 11, 2019

High School 

The 2019 GCI Scholarship is a $100,000 investment in Alaska’s next generation of leaders. This year GCI will provide 50 scholarships at the $2,000 level.

 

Harry H. Hirshik Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

The scholarship supports Alaskan students pursuing education or training in the field of automotive mechanics. 

 

Tim Akers Memorial Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

The scholarship supports outstanding Alaskan students in the pursuit of technology education and/or training. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need and to Alaska Native students.

 

Sven and Lorraine Eriksson Alaska Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

Awards of up to $2,500 per year for up to 4 years (maximum of $10,000) to Alaskan students majoring in engineering or music at the University of Alaska.

 

The Kathryn E. and John P. Doyle Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019

High School, College & Graduate (Female)

The scholarship supports female graduate and undergraduate students studying a degree in science and attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

 

Art Jess Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College 

Review and consider the scholarship preferences prior to submitting an application. Preference is given to Alaska Native, American Indian, and/or Hawaiian Native.

 

JJ Klein Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

Applicant must be a graduate/in their senior year at an Alaskan high school. Preference will be given to applicants with a GPA from 2.0 to 3.2

 

Dr. John Halligan Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

Applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the health sciences/medical career at a University of Alaska campus.

 

The Frank and Carol Pinkerton Orchestral Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 (Please read preference) 

College

This is a completion scholarship provides funding up to 2 years and it is for students who have declared a major in education (pursuing a career in orchestral instruction).

 

The Gary Martin Swim Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

High School & College

Students entering or already enrolled in a post-secondary university or trade school, who were involved in high school swimming. 

 

The THS Patricia Roppel Scholarship - Due April 25, 2019 

College & Graduate

Awards will go to students who are majoring in history of Alaska at the undergraduate or graduate level.

The International Cessna Association -Aviation Scholarship - Due April 30, 2019 

College & Graduate

Available to an individual pursuing a career in an aviation-related field. It can be a full or part-time student. The applicant does not have to be a member of the TIC170A.

 

The CHARR Education Foundation Scholarship - Due May 15, 2019 

High School & College

Applicant must plan to pursue a career in the Alaska hospitality industry and must be an Alaskan resident of at least two years duration prior to applying for the scholarship. Accepted for admission to an accredited institution in the career.
