The KHA group is pleased to present a new scholarship for 2021. The Margaret Hall Memorial Scholarship was created in 2021 to honor a very loyal and active member of the Kodiak Hospital Auxiliary (KHA). For Kodiak residents who are pursuing studies in a health field at an accredited college or university. Open to all graduating high school seniors, college, or university students, as well as those seeking continuing education are all welcome to apply.

UAA - Kodiak College Emergency Fund (Reference page) - ON HOLD

The UAA Student Emergency Fund provides financial assistance to the University of Alaska Anchorage students who have experienced unanticipated, temporary financial hardships resulting from an emergency, or crisis situations, or unplanned major life events. The fund is to off-set a short-term critical need and is not intended to replace or supplement other forms of financial aid.

Critical Language Scholarship  - Due November 17, 2020 for 2021 summer program

CLS is a structured overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students that is fully-funded by the U.S. Department of State. The intensive program is 8 weeks long and takes place over the summer. 

The application for the U.S. Department of State’s 2021 Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS) Program is currently open to undergraduate and graduate students of all fields of study. Because of the variation in state and college deadlines, it is highly recommended that you fill out the FAFSA as soon as you can after October 1 to ensure that you do not miss out on available aid. Alaska Performance Scholarship - Due June 30, 2021, 

High School 

Alaska residents who graduate from an Alaska high school (public, private, or home school), in 2011 or later and meet the qualifying requirements are eligible for an APS award. The Psychology No-Essay Scholarship is a $500 scholarship open to undergraduate and graduate students who are pursuing a career in psychology OR a high school senior who has plans to study psychology.

Financial Freedom Scholarship - Due October 31, 2021 

College & Graduate

The scholarship is open to all high school, undergraduate, and graduate school students and non-students from any field of study. The only requirement is that you want to live a life with more financial freedom.

Walmart Scholarship - Deadline August 31, 2020

The Walmart Associate Scholarship is available to associates (employees) participating in Walmart’s Lifelong Learning Program through American Public University and for associates pursuing post-secondary education.

First Generation College Students Scholarship  - Due August 1, 2021 

High School & College

The First-Generation College Students Scholarship is meant to support and encourage these students as they take on the biggest educational milestone thus far in their lives. This $500 award will help current or aspiring students who are the first in their families to attend college or university pay their tuition or student loans.

Hispanic Empowerment No-Essay Scholarship  - Due August 1, 2021

The Hispanic Empowerment No-Essay Scholarship is meant to encourage diversity in academia. This $750 award will help current or aspiring students who are Hispanic pay their tuition or student loans.

NISOD Student Essay Contest - Due March 12, 2021

College

Student authors are asked to describe a faculty member, staff member, or administrator who encouraged them to complete a course, finish a semester, or graduate from college and how that encouragement helped them reach their goal(s) in a 500-word (or less) essay. Only students currently enrolled at NISOD member colleges are eligible (UAA and Kodiak College students are eligible). Find out from your school if it is NISOD member.

Asian American/Pacific Islander Scholarship- Deadline August 1, 2021

The bi-annual WiseGeek's Asian American/Pacific Islander Scholarship is meant to support the Asian American community and encourage diversity in academia. This $750 scholarship will help current students who are Asian American/Pacific Islander pay their tuition or student loans.

The scholarship supports outstanding Alaskan students in the pursuit of technology education and/or training. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated financial need and to Alaska Native students.

The Chef Cotter Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

High School & College

Alaskan students graduating or currently attending a post-secondary school are welcome to apply for the $1,000 Chef Cotter scholarship. Must study or plan to study culinary arts, hospitality or tourism.

The Gary Martin Swim Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

Students entering or already enrolled in a post-secondary university or trade school, who were involved in high school swimming may be eligible.

2020 Dream to Fly: Jeff Cheng Memorial Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

High School & GED

High School graduates or GED equivalent are eligible to apply for this award to go towards to cost of flight school in pursuit of becoming a professional pilot.

 

Scott Fibranz Memorial Baseball Scholarship - Due April 2020

High School & College

Applicants must be students involved in baseball or softball during there high school education with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Please click on the scholarship name for more information.

The THS Patricia Roppel Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

College

Applicants should be students who are majoring in the history of Alaska at the undergraduate or graduate level. Students either need to be enrolled or intend to enroll at an accredited college.

Sven and Lorraine Eriksson Alaska Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020 

High School & College

The applicant must plan to be an engineering or music major within the University of Alaska system. The scholarship will provide awards of up to $2,500 per year for up to 4 years (maximum of $10,000)

The Kathryn E. and John P. Doyle Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

High School, College & Graduate (Female)

The scholarship supports female graduate and undergraduate students studying a degree in science and attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

2020 Dream to Fly: Jeff Cheng Memorial Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

High School & GED Equivalent

Scholarships will help a student who plans to pursue flying as a professional career. Preference to individuals of underrepresented groups in the Alaska Aviation community.

The Gary Martin Swim Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020

Students entering or already enrolled in a post-secondary university or trade school, who were involved in high school swimming. 

 

The THS Patricia Roppel Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020 

College & Graduate

Awards will go to students who are majoring in history of Alaska at the undergraduate or graduate level.

David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship - Due April 9, 2020 

College

The David E. Knox Memorial Nursing Fellowship supports outstanding candidates in the pursuit of registered nursing degrees and service to small Alaskan communities. The award is available to nursing students in 2, 3, and 4 year programs, but favors those near completion of their degree.

Barry Koch & Family Scholarship for Track, Field and X-Country Athletes - Due April 9, 2020

High School

Track, Field or Cross Country Athletes in Region 4 schools with a 2.5 GPA are eligible to apply.

The CHARR Education Foundation Scholarship - Due April 9, 2020 

High School & College

Applicant must plan to pursue a career in the Alaska hospitality industry and must be an Alaskan resident of at least two years duration prior to applying for the scholarship. Accepted for admission to an accredited institution in the career.

Alaska Telecom Association Scholarship - Due April 17,  2020

College

The ATA scholarships are currently available to students who are enrolled in college and are continuing to pursue their degrees. The applicant has to be sponsored by an Active or Associate Member of Alaska Telephone Association. The scholarships are available to Alaska resident students to attend accredited higher education institutions.

The awards merit-based scholarships of up to $7,000 for eligible academic expenses to college sophomores and juniors pursuing studies leading to a career in tribal health, tribal public policy or the environment. For individuals who have been formally admitted into an undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and/or vocational degree-seeking program at the Kodiak College Campus or the UAA Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the UAA Early Childhood Education, and UAS Elementary Education majors please apply here no later than February 15, 2020 to be considered for these Kodiak College specific scholarships by filling the application once along with the UAOnline Scholarship application.

Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) - Due February 5, 2020 

College first-year or sophomore at the time of application

SHPEP is a free 6-week summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. The programs offered at the University of Washington Health Sciences are medicine, dentistry, and public health. Financial assistance with housing, meals, and stipend with travel assistance is available.

For any individual of Hispanic or Latino descent interested in furthering their education. Two scholarships available; one for Spring 2020 and one for Fall 2020 semester with individual deadlines to be used at an accredited institution within the State of Alaska.

The recipient of this scholarship may use the funds for any educational purpose (tuition, books, etc.).

Student review last year's application to start working on the application. Most requirements could be the same and the application would give an overall idea of what to expect. Make sure to come back to review the latest application when available to be announced soon. For KHS graduate or KoC student interested in pursuing a career or training in media studies, communications, journalism, radio/tv/film/web production or broadcasting, or engineering.

The Caring.com Scholarship - Various scholarships and deadlines 

High school and college students taking on the role of caregiver for aging loved ones. To help support these students, the scholarships for student caregivers are made available to provide financial assistance.
